How the Process Works

Step 1: Inquiry and Scheduling

Submit an inquiry through the In-Home Observation Inquiry form. Dr. Jung reviews your request and follows up within two business days to confirm availability and coordinate scheduling. No payment is required upfront.

Step 2: On-Site Observation

Dr. Jung conducts a focused in-person observation in home or other everyday settings, remaining unobtrusive so that behavior unfolds naturally. With your consent, the session may be recorded to support accurate interpretation and reporting. This service is educational and consultative, not clinical.

Step 3: Analysis and Written Report

A thorough analysis of behavioral and environmental patterns is performed. A comprehensive written developmental report highlighting key insights and recommended next steps is delivered after analysis is complete.

Step 4: Follow-Up Consultation

A 60-minute follow-up consultation takes place after the report is delivered to discuss findings and clarify practical next steps. Available virtually or in-person on Mercer Island.

Common Questions

What is the benefit of an In-Home Observation?
Observation in home or other everyday settings is where children are most themselves. It allows patterns to be seen as they actually unfold in moments that are difficult to interpret through description or video alone, such as intense outbursts, repeated conflict, shutdown or refusal, or situations that escalate quickly without a clear reason. Dr. Jung observes how the child responds to the people, spaces, and expectations that shape their daily life. This format is particularly valuable when concerns feel hard to describe, when previous approaches have not provided clarity, or when you want a more complete understanding of what is driving your child’s behavior.
Will Dr. Jung interact with my child during the visit?
Minimal interaction is preferred so that natural behavior can be observed. The focus is on the existing dynamics between the child, the parents, and the environment rather than on introducing a new interaction.
Is in-home observation suitable for school-aged children?
Yes. Observations for older children often focus on homework routines, transitions, sibling interactions, or other everyday situations where concerns tend to surface most clearly.
Do you observe in preschools or schools?
Observation in preschool, school, or other public settings can be arranged with appropriate permissions from the school and relevant staff. When helpful, this can provide additional context alongside observations in home or other everyday settings. If you are considering a school-based observation, please contact Dr. Jung to discuss.
What if I am outside the Greater Seattle area?
Dr. Jung may be available beyond the Greater Seattle area by arrangement. Contact BrightEugene to discuss your location and availability.
Is this a clinical evaluation or diagnosis?
No. This service is strictly educational and consultative. It is not a clinical evaluation, therapeutic intervention, or formal diagnosis.
